Governor Crist Appoints Kelly Horton to the Florida Film & Entertainment Advisory Council
TALLAHASSEE – Governor Charlie Crist today appointed Kelly Wells Horton of Tallahassee to the Florida Film & Entertainment Advisory Council.
“Florida’s entertainment industry represents an important line of business for Florida’s economy,” said Governor Crist. “Kelly’s extensive experience in both the public and private sectors will be a tremendous asset to the advisory council as we move forward to achieve the broad long-range goal of recruiting more production activity to the state.”
Kelly Horton, 38, is the president and chief executive officer of Heffley & Associates. She has worked in her current position since 2000, and previously served for several years as an executive assistant for the Florida Department of State. Horton is a member of the Tallahassee Film Society and is a board member of the Florida Workers’ Compensation Insurance Guaranty Association. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1991.
“Expanding Florida’s film and entertainment industry is an important part of Governor Crist’s commitment to attracting, maintaining and growing highly valued industries in Florida,” said Horton. “I share this commitment and am grateful for the opportunity to serve in this position.”
The Florida Film & Entertainment Advisory Council serves as an advisory body to the Governor’s Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development and to the Office of the Film Commissioner to provide industry insight and expertise related to developing, marketing, promoting and providing service to Florida’s entertainment industry. Horton is appointed for a term beginning June 11, 2007, and ending August 20, 2011.
